Our Childcare Procedures & Requirements It is the policy of Peninsula Bible Fellowship to provide childcare at some functions in order to facilitate attendance by parents of young children. PBF staff hires caregivers for major church functions (i.e. congregational meetings, membership classes). If an individual ministry schedules a meeting/function for which they desire childcare, this ministry is responsible to hire caregivers from the preapproved caregiver list, which is available upon request from the PBF office. The ministry is also responsible to supervise the caregivers while the event is taking place. The guidelines below will assist you in this function.
1. PBF requires the following adult caregiver to child ratios be followed for any childcare situation. Please remember that these guidelines are for adult caregivers. If you hire teen caregivers, then you must add additional caregivers in order to be in compliance. A general rule of thumb is one adult caregiver = 1.5 teen caregivers.
PBF Required Ratios
Under one year: 1 caregiver = 2 children
13 months - 2-1/2 years: 1 caregiver = 4 children
2-1/2 years - 5 years: 1 caregiver = 7 children
Kindergarten & Up: 1 caregiver = 10 children
2. You are responsible for calling the caregivers on the PBF Childcare list and arranging specific and finite beginning and ending times for them. Ask the caregivers to be there 15 minutes prior to the event and plan on staying 15 minutes after the conclusion of the vent in order to clean up the rooms utilized.
3. At the conclusion of the event, fill out a timecard for each caregiver (a master copy is attached). These should be placed in the bookkeeper's box in the office workroom. Caregivers are paid on the 15th of each month and timecards must be turned in by the 10th.
4. Designate a person from your group who will check on the caergivers during your function. Caregivers should be be checked on during the following times: Beginning: Make sure all caregivers are prsent and there is adequate coverage. If there is not adequate coverage, you must find additional preapproved caregivers to work or close the class. Halfway through: Check on the caregivers to make sure all is going well and provide anything the caregivers many needs. At the conclusion: Check on the caregivers to make sure all children have been been picked up in a timely fashion. Caregivers need to have cleaned up the classroom according to the nursery guidelines.
5. If there is a medical emergency during your function, the caregivers should enter 777 on the electric monitor on the wall in room 102. This number will be displayed on the monitors in the sanctuary. At that time, check on the caregivers to see what they require.
